I'm so impressed by the Imagining Resource review of the Sony RX10 that I'm buying one!

Is the new Sony RX10 a very expensive, but excellent solution for almost all travel and casual photography?

Imaging Resource and other reviewers think it's an acceptable interchangeable lens DSLR replacement.

A 20Mp back lit Sony sensor, as used in the much praised RX100 II, a very special Zeiss 24-200mm f2.8 lens with almost macro capabilities for stills and videos.

Only problem seems to be PRICE, which is HUGE and weight, which is also huge.

Cheapest portable f2.8 zooms are the Lumix 12-35 & 35-100s - just the 35-100 costs as much as the Sony.

Think it's a perfect solution to 99.99% of my needs, so I'm getting mine on Monday! :-)

Will report back with my findings soon.

Wonder what any one else thinks - wish it had a 7-14mm Lumix equivalent add-on to complete my happiness?
 
I bought one almost two weeks ago and haven't had a chance to try it yet. :(
But I'm on holiday this week so hoping for some sunshine.

Like you, it covers most of my normal uses but I'll be keeping a Nikon body and lenses for ultra-wide, longer than 200mm, etc. I don't think it's heavy, considering what it covers and I'm certainly looking forward to carrying it instead of a DSLR with Sigma 50-150mm & 17-70mm.
 
I have been scouring every review of this camera and really wanted one, however having downloaded a few sample images online the images do have that compact camera look when viewed at 100%. I know I shouldn't pixel peep but I can get an a7 for the same price. For reference I used to own an rx100.
 
I held one today in jessops and took a few test shots with a memory card. Will post them at some point, feels very nice in the hand and the lens looks just like the sony zeiss 16-80!
