It does sound like he tested the system properly. If you're still worried about things then do be very careful, keep one hand in your pocket at all times and only use the back of your hand to touch suspect areas and only lightly at that.
If you get a static shock then they tend to be sudden and very brief - the charge dissipates very quickly.
With all due respect I would not advise touching anything suspect with your hand as a way of finding a possible live electrical fault, 240v mains voltage is more than enough to stop a persons heart, hand in pocket or not he may still be earthed somewhere..
