I'm looking at upgrading my laptop but unsure which to go for 21.5 iMac or the mac book pro. Anybody got any pros or cons to either of these
 
Personally I like the mobility of a laptop so would go for the pro

If you don't need this iMac is it cheaper with more memory?
 
Depends on how mobile you need to be. I would not want a laptop for home use (without an external screen) but would like one if I was needing to travel a lot. The imac would be better for home use but the screen is very shiny and will only tilt, and the height cannot be changed.
Another option is the MBP plus a good quality IPS screen for home use, but it will cost a lot more and have lower performance than a separate base unit plus screen.
 
I use an imac at work and a MBP at home.

All down to space and budget. Money no option I'd have a MBP with thunderbolt display.

I use my home 17 inch MBP alot it just slows me down having a smaller screen and no mouse.
 
Really down to you whether you need a laptop vs a desktop. Both are great machines.
 
The MBP is more easily upgradeable too such as adding a 2nd drive or replacing the HDD with a SDD
