iMac screen fading problem..?

Hey guys,

Earlier on when i woke my mac from sleep the screen started flickering a bit for about a minute and then stopped. Not flickering as in on and off but the brightness. Thought nothing of it as it went back to normal but since returning to it a few hours later and woke it from sleep the seems to be a fade from the top to bottom as if there is a gradient on it. The top half being less brighter then the bottom.

Any ideas of what this could be...? I am guessing hardware issues. If it is what is the chance of a fix by apple as this machine was bought approx Aug 07.. ish.

Anyone tried the good old Sales of Goods Act before on Apple..? Not happy at all with this as it is annoying me already :bang:

My early 2008 24" imac died when I tried to wake it the other day. Just went black, restarted n won't get past grey screen with Apple logo which is fuzzy and not right.

Booked into genius bar on Wednesday.

I'm just a few weeks out of warranty.

Mmmmm, i may try ring them up tomoz and try see what they say and maybe try the Sales of Goods Act. Let me know how it goes and what they regarding warranty and fixing it.

Got there and they looked up my details (my only receipt is in my Mac and backed up on my Mac only accesible HDs) to confirm that i was a whole 13 days out of warranty.

They were very decent though and agreed to do the repair under warranty with only a little begging and puppy dog eyes from me.

The guy on the bar said he reckoned it was either the logic board or the graphics card I think it was, said it might be the display but reckoned not.

Would have been about an £800 bill if it wasn't on warranty.

Ahh nice one, thats pretty good then. I rang up apple and had the guy saying they couldnt help me at all or do anything, after mentioning the sales of goods act i have been speaking to there manager which is very helpful and we are still sorting stuff out but she is always getting back to me regarding the problem.
