iMac Screen v Apple Cinema HD Display

Anybody used both of these? Is the Cinema display that much better?

As much as I love Apple products, the ACD unfortunately is one Apple product I'd advise staying away from. They are long overdue for an update, and even so are gravely overpriced for that little they are. I personally can't justify paying the premium for something that just looks pretty. You can get much better monitors for less from the likes of Dell or Samsung. As for the iMac Screen, colours look nice since they're both glossy but I'm told that the 24" panel is better than the 20" so you're probably better off comparing them in store.

I agree, you probably can get better value from a third party display than the Apple ones. If you are going to spend that sort of money have a look at Eizo. Expensive but good.

You need to check out the screens on the iMac yourself. Personally I liked the 24" but then I like big screens. If you are going to an Apple store, give them a ring and make an appointment. That way you get to look at the equipment you want without having to fend off browsers

My Dad has a 20in iMac already so I know the quality of them, unless the 24in is different (apart from size)?

Might just end up with a 24in iMac then as I'd quite like a bit more power then my MacBook is giving me!

The 24" is an IPS panel, so it is higher quality, I think thier was a law suit or something in the states at Apple didn't make it clear that it was a different type of panel...
