Hi there, apologies for the poor typing I am having to use my phone. I have a 21.5" iMac which is months old and today safari and move won't open. Everytime I open them they freeze then 'quit unexpectedly' I have tried 36 times so it says and it still does the sam thing. Worked fine today until I accept a prompted update to update safari. When restarting an error occur in the update installation and since then it hasn't worked.
I have restarted the computer, left for a long while, uninstalled safari and reinstalled it off a memory stick where it was saved. I don't have access to another computer, only my iPhone which is useless for Internet dare I say it, so I am having trouble googling the issue and wondered if anyone on here had experienced the same problems. Any help is greatly appreciated and if I haven't made anything clear please ask me to explain things.
Thanks in advance!

using any plug ins

try this , copied from apple support
Check to see if you have any Safari third party plugins.

Go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem. Safari: Add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues

If it isn't third party plugins, go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop. Relaunch Safari. If Safari functions as it should, move that .plist file to the Trash.

If that didn't help, to go ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari. Move the "cache.db" file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash. Relaunch Safari.

And repair disk permissions..

Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

I tried those to no effect. Thanks though for getting the info for me :) currently reinstalling OS after backing everything up and just hoping that works

Might I suggest you install a second web browser, such as Firefox. when you get everything back. Then should this happen again at least you can delete the corrupted Safari, and download it again using Firefox

I am back. I backed everything up and put the Mac OS X Install DVD in and about an hour later all is working. It didnt delete anything though just updated it all I think.

Big sigh of relief. Could have learnt the hard way however! So downloading Firefox as we speak!

Thanks all :)
