I will soon be downsizing where I live and no longer have space for all the framed photos that I have around the place. Most of these are myown work but a few are professional portraits that I have of the family over the years.

Obviously I bought the prints and wonder where I stand legally and morally if I scan them to be used in digital photo frames for MY OWN personal use. Not to be put on the web in any form whatsoever. Not even enlarged beyond their original size (so not buying a 4*6 and turning itinto a poster!).

I would appreciate comments from others as to whether I am breaking any legal/moral codes in doing this.

I can't say for certain (not being a lawyer and all) but I'd be surprised if what you're intending to do doesn't come under fair use.

I'm no lawyer but it seems fair enough to me and no-one would ever have known if you'd done it without posting on here!

Personally, I wouldn't have a problem with it. Especially if I'm just going to be using them in the same context.
