Image stabiliser?

Hi everyone, I'm going to some light trail photography a go tonight, read on the tutorial it said to turn the image stabiliser off so small vibrations don't ruin the image, does the d3100 have this if so how do I turn it off?

No the D3100 does not have built in IS but your lens might. If it does there will be a switch on the lens to turn it off.

Nikon calls it VR - Vibration Reduction. And as a rule it's generally a good idea to turn it off with tripod use to prevent a feeback loop, generated by the system itself when sationary, from causing the stabilisation system from acting erratically.

Thanks for the replies. My lenses don't have vr so should be fine
