Images gone off CF Card, huge problem

Hi I use a Canon 7d, did a shoot today for a local music shop, took about 500 shots both in RAW and medium jpeg. I reviewed them in the shop on my camera and all was well, just downloaded them to my MAC and half are gone, happened the other night. Could it be a faulty CF Card? This has caused me a real problem.

You can download free software to try and recover them if it comes to it. I've managed to recover stuff off a bad CF card before.
 
Are they there when you view them on the camera now?
Maybe connect a lead to the camera directly if they are to download them
If not then as broric said recovery software is definitely worth trying

As above, can you still see all the images / the missing images in the camera ?

How did you download them to your MAC - via camera / lead or reader ?
 
If Recuva can't get them back for you try looking for Pandora Recovery on google, I had a similar problem at one point and after trying 4 or 5 different programs without success I got Pandora and got the lot back. The only downfall with Pandora is it changes the file names which can be a problem, but at least you still have the images.
