I am not sure if a similar thread exists as I briefly searched for one but couldn't find any. I have seen several threads for other primes and zooms with stunning images so thought of starting one with this stunning prime.

I have just bought the Canon 300mm and can't wait to give it a proper run. The couple of images I took since I got it just makes me eager to give it a more thorough workout. Seems like perfect weather around these days to give it a go.

In the meantime would love to see other member stunning images taken with this lens.

Go ahead, spoil us with those lovely images :)

I'm guessing you mean the 300mm f4 IS L?

What a lovely start of the thread with those cracking images :).
It just makes me more eager to go out and shoot some wildlife. Just starting to warm up now and hoping to catch some birds and also butterflies around the woods nearby. I read that this is a very nice lens for butterflies and insects too due to its short focusing distance :).

Phil, with that image you just helped me decide to get the 1.4 TC. I was toying with the idea of getting one but now seeing that image I am definitely in the market for one :).
It will be a nice addition also for the 70-200mm f/2.8 that I have.

I had been using the sigma 150-500mm until I got the canon 300mm and although I felt that the sigma was pretty sharp but my oh my, it took the image of this prime to realise how sharp a prime really can be :). I am over the moon :).

Sarah, what a coincidence also seeing your post here and noticing you still kept yours. I was reading a few threads started by you where you had asked for advice about this lens before you bought it obviously and then suddenly saw one that you were selling it. Now I see you ended up not selling it which just goes to show how happy you are with it. I am hoping to capture a few shots in flight like that one too :). Thats a pretty nice one, nicely captured :)

Thanks

Amin

Amin,

I love this lens especially with the 1.4TC attached - here's a few I've taken for you to have a look at

Unfortunately couldn't manage to get to the woods yesterday to take some shots of butterflies or birds, but as it was sunny and nice couldn't help trying the lens on some portraits. My little one prodding along, and I love how quick this lens and obviously the 7D locks into focus.

Hi

I bought the 300 F4 IS last year and it's a real belter.

One from the Lake District with the lens

Finally managed to give the 300mm a good workout. Enjoyed thoroughly the result and made me forget the bigmos.

Are any of these hand held? I find it almost impossible to get sharp images hand held :( and that's with a Canon 28-135!

Hi Andy

All were shot handheld. In fact even with the sigma 150-500 I used it handheld and handling the canon 300mm is a real treat, light and easy and that IS really works well
