If anyone else has any of these kind of useful tools, do please post them! I discovered this one quite by chance. I'd been cleaning out my bike bag and this tool lay on the island in the kitchen in the meantime. The same day some new RRS camera plates turned up with the usual allen key screws so I reached for my bicycle tool. The plates had 3 different sizes of allen key heads plus the small adjuster screws, making 4. The bike tool had all of them plus a couple more, a philips screwdriver, straight screwdriver and some other bits. It's since become my go to tool for virtually all photographic bits and pieces that need attaching in one way or another. Cheap as chips, compact and saves me having several tools jangling around in my photo bag. Available at cycle shops and supermarkets for a pittance!

Thanks for the tip. Have just had a root about in my (underused) bike bag and lo & behold, voila!

You're most welcome! I've had a few bits arriving the last couple of weeks after changing out my system for the first time in several years. Every time I've reached for this tool it's had the exact attachment I needed. Saved me hours rooting around in my garage!

Seriously though, I always keep a couple of those wrist bands in my bag, the charity rubber type ones, ( I have a couple that have telephoto/f numbers on)
Handy for lens creep, grips on smooth or stiff lenses, gels, flash card etc.

The Leatherman Tread is excellent. Also don't forget to wrap a couple of metres of duct tape around one of your tripod legs. Creates a go-anywhere tape dispenser.

Also also a loop of inside-out masking tape inside lens caps (body end) catches dust from the lens that would otherwise get on your sensor.

Not seen that Tread before, looks very handy indeed!

Same idea with tape but I use double sided tape on my BODY CAPS.
 
I have one of those bike tools. I also have a long quick release plate for balancing long lenses which needs a supplied allen key to attach and detach. Annoying to have to carry it around. Wanted some way to put that size of allen key on my keyring. All those tools have ringed ends! So I simply took one out and put it on my key ring.

My most used tool is girl's hair bands. I used to just find them lying in the streets and pocket them but my wife objected to my dirty habit. So I bought a packet. A soft and more easily used kind of rubber band for stopping things from flapping about, like remote releases, cables, etc..
