Info on lenses

Depends on the fitment. the 450d can use EF and EF-S lenses. The 5d will only use EF lenses by design.

There are people who have been able to use some EF-S lenses on the 5d like the sigma 10-20mm but they can't use it at full width of 10mm but can go to 12mm. it is due to the back of the lens sticking out of the lens more on EF-S than on an EF at 10mm the EF-S hits the camera internals.

This is only partly true. It's important to note the difference between Canon and non-Canon lenses.

Canon EF lenses will fit a 5D fine.
Canon EF-S lenses will not fit.

Sigma DG lenses will fit.
Sigma DC lenses (including the 10-20mm mentioned previously) will physically fit, but extreme caution must be exercised because in certain configurations they may obstruct the camera's mirror. Basically, I wouldn't risk it.

A Sigma DC lens wouldn't cover the full frame image so you'd get a picture in the middle and blackness all around. If you see a shot taken with a DC lens on a full frame body it really hits home how much smaller an APS-C sensor is than full frame.

For full frame - Canon EF, Sigma DG, Tamron Di. I don't know what the other manufacturers codes are.

:agree:

Which lenses are you specifically thinking about ?

I have all canon lenses ef70/200f/4l,ef75/300f4-5.6 111,ef50mmf/1.8 11,efs18-55 is kit.All les than a year old if that makes any difference.

You wont be able to mount the ef-s lens on the 5D as its full frame and wont have the white dot on the body so as to prevent mirror damage and not filling the frame anyway.
The rest being EF lenses will be fine.

Matt
