Info on my new old camera

Hi everyone,
Went round my mums today and she gave me this camera, really happy although was wondering if anyone on here could give me some information on it.
Its a keiss ikon nettar but dont know what model it is.
out of curiosity What are these worth nowadays?
How old is it? etc
any info would be great :)

Yes it's a Netta and I have one just like it bought for me by my father new in the mid 1950's. Have some fun with it as due to the size of the negs the results aren't bad.

Where do I get film from for this? I don't suppose you got any examples of the results? :)
 
Thanks donutagain! I shall be purchasing some film soon :)

My mum has just given me 2 more cameras :)! Should I post pics of them on here or shall I post a new thread in the film section? :)

the last two take 620 film , which is the same size as 120 ,, but the spools are slightly different,have you got any empty spools in either of the cameras ? because you need an empty one to feed the film onto from the new one . the 620 spools seem hard to come by ,,if you're going to have a go at the 620 film its possible to rewind 120 onto 620 spools , but you would need two to start with ,its a bit of a pain to be honest ,,,,

I am totally new to these old cameras so bear with me. Are these what you mean by spools?

yes ,,if you have two you can re- spool a roll of 120 onto them , if you only have the one ,some people trim down the plastic 120 ones , then thread the start of the film onto the " proper " 620 ,,,but it has to be done in total darkness ,quite a task if you are new to film :D

to be honest it might be best to use the first camera ( its the best one anyway ) as you can just use the 120 film straight from the box,,but you will still need an empty 120 spool to start with ,,,if you havnt got one try ringing Matt at ag photographic and he might throw one in for you if not anyone in the film section will send you one just give us a shout

I'd agree with the above. You've already got a link to the user manual online. Let me know if it doesn't work and I'll email the pdf to you.

It looks like you're going to be larnin' about MF film over Christmas fella. :clap:

My advice would be to read the manual cover to cover, buy some colour and b&w film. You might do worse than 7day shop but a good camera shop near where you live, especially one which takes MF film for developing, is a new friendship to be cultivated and nurtured.

Don't bother with over-priced out-of-date lomo film on EBay: you need to establish your technique and the correct functioning of the camera without being distracted by dodgy old film. Do you have light meter? If not use your digital camera to meter for you.

Above all have fun and don't be at all surprised if you start looking at old cameras on EBay. :bang::wave::bonk:

Yeh it does sound like a bit of a task prob as I'm new to film. I'll be starting of having a play with the nettar first. Just looked in the nettar and there is a spool in there, I see what you mean about the different sized spools.

I've had a look at the manual I got sent but not sure if I've recieved it fully, think some pages might be missing.
The nettar will definatley test me on MF, I don't have a light meter no, my SLR is a d3100.
My mums also given me a jessops blue book, so I've already been looking at lots of old cameras already hehe.
I can't wait to get shooting but will have to do my homework and read up :)

Thanks :) I shall post some pictures up once I've got them sorted. Prob a silly question but do you just scan the photos when you post them up?
 
when you get them developed there should be an option to have them scanned to disc ,it may not be a really high resolution , but it will be good enough for showing on a comp screen
 
Marco , if you just want some film to play with, i've got a bunch of 120 roll film sat in my fridge not doing a lot (largely out of date but should still be okay as its been refridgerated)

pm me your address and i'll post you a few rolls gratis :thumbs:

Pm recieved - i'll sort it out tommorow (my excess film is in the fridge at work to protect it from swimbo 'tidying up' ) , and don't worry about postage, film is light so it will be pennies anyway
