Infra-Red help!

I'm tearing my hair out now! What's happening here TP:

No light leaks, the sun is on the other side of the house, tried not shooting through a window - this was taken with my 18-55 kit lens, the filter works fine on my old nifty fifty - help me!

Cokin P007 filter.

It's the lens. I've no idea why but some lenses produce that effect with IR. If you do a google search you should be able to find a lit of lenses that work OK. I don't think there's a way to fix it except in PP, and then it's not easy.

Some lenses produce what's called 'hot spots' when using IR filters and the Canon kit lens is one of those.

Looks identical to when I got condensation inside my lens.

Might not be that of course.

Canon EF 17-40mm f/4 L is there, which is hopefully going to be my next upgrade - phew!
