Infra red

I have been looking at some super infra red shots on flickr and fancy giving it a go. Anyone got any advice or experience / recomendations with the available filters. Frome the reading I have done so far success can change from camera to camera. I am a canon user and have a 50D and a 5D so will experiment to see which is best for Infra red. Lens will probably be a 24-105 f4 or 70-200 f2.8. Both 77mm so any recomendations for 77mm screw on lenses or I have a Lee filter kit so won't rule out a square filter.

Image quality can vary from lens to lens too as some lens produce hot spots in the middle of the image. There is a list of which Canon lens are good somewhere on t'internt, from memory I think the 24-105 is ok.

Thx and from what I am reading I should rule out the 5D though some have had greqt results with the 50D so thankfully I kept it as a backup.
