I have a Samsung GX20 and I am interested in trying out infrared photography. Does anyone have any experience of using this camera (or the Pentax K20D) for such a thing? What filter would you recommend and also do you have any examples you can show of the results you got please?

Thanks in advance :)

Plenty of pics on FlickR - just search 'k20d infrared'

The usual filter is the Hoya R72. I used one on my G1 for a while but the longish shutter speeds spoiled most of the photos - wind blowing trees around etc - so I got a converted camera instead, no more long exposures.

Have a read of this:

If you use an unmodded camera and a screw-in IR filter then, in effect, you are passing the light through two filters (the camera's 'hot mirror' and the (very dark) screw-in filter) which means that your shutter speed will end up being quite/very long (depending on which camera you are using) and moving things will be blurred, a PITA if you are taking photos of trees on a windy day, moving people etc. By having a camera modded you are removing this problem and can AF and shoot at 'proper' shutter speeds. Of course the screw-in filter option is way cheaper and a good 'try before you buy' if you are thnking of getting a modded camera.
