Can anyone point me in the right direction for this kind of thing??

I am after remotely triggering the camera when someone trips a beam. Not sure what it might be called hence my post...............

Its interesting you should ask this, I follow Charlie Hamilton James on twitter - http://BANNED/#!/chamiltonjames He makes most of his own gear. If you have twitter you might be able ask him. He does a lot of camera trap work!
 
Nobody else any experience with this kind of trigger?
 
This can also be done using an arduino, which is probably the route I will be looking into once I have a few pennies to rub together. There's plenty of information on Google if you search.

The ML-L3 remote should be able to be wired to the relay and then I realised the D200 & D300 don't have an IR sensor. The wireless remotes for these cameras I have seen don't seem as simple as the ML-L3 and I don't have one so can't check how it works - maybe some of you have one?????

Anyone use a wireless remote with the D300 or D200 and can one press (ie, 1 signal from the relay) activate the shutter??

If going that route you could get a cheap ebay shutter cable and wire the two together with any required circuitry.

I would rather avoid a 20 foot trailing lead but it is an option. Would need to extend it somewhat.
Will report back on the results - hopefully <£60 should do the job............
 
Those IR remotes don't have a huge range, especially outdoors. The RF-602 transmitter has a PC port on it so that could be an option also, though a google seems to indicate that the PC port adds a fair bit of lag over hot shoe mount.
 
I can rustle up a cable without any spend - you've got me thinking now!

I am looking to build an Arduino, laser pointer powered flash trigger too.
