Seen today at the Lake of Menteith - about 20 miles from the nearest salt (Clyde estuary). By no means the first time I've seen them there.

Most interesting. I have occaisionally seen gannets flying over central Scotland. I can only guess that they are in transit between the Bass Rock and Ailsa Craig.
