Hey, it's deffinately NOT a wasp i know that much i photographed one the other day maybe a hover fly? If not more hornety than wasp, hope i helped!
 
Was thinking the same myself there seems to be a good few different types of hover flies about
 
Yup, it's a Hoverfly.
