Installing a bigger hard drive in a laptop

I'm need to install a new, bigger hard drive in my laptop. What software would any one recommend to clone the existing drive?

Although I have all the software, I'd rather not go through the pain of starting it all again and would much prefer to do it the easy way.

The plan was to use Acronis True Image but I've just heard today that its not up to much. I've all ready been put off using Norton.

Qwerty69 is right, believe it or not it's probably easier to start from scratch, certainly won't do the laptop any harm.

To be honest that's what I'd do, deffo the preferred option!

If I could I'd reformat my computer(s) and reinstall everything about once a year.

It's amazing how much rubbish gets installed over time and weeding everything out will speed up your PC and give you a much better user experience.

This is exactly what I did with my MacBook. I moved everything off to an external drive and now don't store anything (except installed programs and files I'm using when I'm on the move) on the machine.

Also if you do decide to reinstall everything again in the future it's much easier knowing that all of your files are on the external drive.

Why not buy an external enclosure and a new HDD,that way you can install fresh on the new HDD,pop your old one in the enclosure then if you require any bits off the old one move them over.
Once your happy,format the external one and use it just for storage.
