Has anyone done the Institute of Professional Photography Course? Dip. Pro Photo (Inst P.P)

Was thinking of signing up but would like to know if it is reommended or not?

thanks
Caroline

i have just checked their web page and would like to know your opinions as well.

They are as they say "the voice of the profession" and well worth looking at. Amazing how few 'professionals' have proper formal photographic qualifications these days.

I signed up a couple of weeks ago when they were offering a 30% discount if you accepted returned course materials. The box (which is both big and heavy) of material arrived last week and I still haven't found time to open it yet!

i started the course in feb of this year ..and have just sent in module 12 for marking :) i have learned a lot so far and am really enjoying the fact that i can go at MY pace (which is handy as i have plenty time off)

i also got the scuffed course which arrived in perfect condition :)

You are looking at the wrong page

This is the course the OP was referring to:
http://www.inst.org/photography-courses-us/index.htm

This is the BIPP (British Institute of Professional Photography)
http://www.bipp.com

Two very different things.

Oh, and I didnt realise that you couldnt be professional in anything without a degree

Sorry for the misunderstanding, however as a full time medical photographer in the NHS I wouldn't be able to even apply for a job without the appropriate degree. I would agree that a degree is not a necessity to become a 'professional photographer' but in certain instances it helps!

When dealing with students I almost always prefer those with inherent ability as opposed to those with qualifications.

Oh and PS there are more qualifications out there than a degree, HNC, HND C&G etc.

Just wondered how you are getting on with the course?
