Hi im looking for some advice, I dropped my camera out of my bag at the weekend (freak accident) the toggle on my lowpro zip caught on the boot of my car and unzipped the bag. Unfortunately my Nikon D70 with attached Tokina 28-70 f2.8 and my Sigma 70-210 fell out on to the car park breaking them.

My camera equipment is insured with my household contents insurance that is supposed to be old for new, I was advised to look for something comparative to the broken equipment but im unsure what to be looking for and they were very vague.

Any advise would be brilliant

Thank you Mark

They should put you back into the position you were pre-accident.

If the equipment was top-of-range, that's what you should get. If bottom-of-range then the same applies. And anywhere in-between!

And you don't have to accept vouchers. If you ask for a cheque, that's what they have to give you.

Thank you for the quick response Digital  I dont suppose you would be able to offer any advice on what I should be looking at would you, bearing in mind my equipment is a bit long in the tooth

Sorry, but I don't have any experience or knowledge of your kit.

I'm sure someone will be along to put it in context. Failing that, perhaps a decent camera dealer might be able to help? All you need to know, really, is where each was within the manufacturer's range at the time it was on sale new.

I think on a new for old basis the d90 would probably be the current replacement body.

Thank you Jim, I was thinking about the D90 but wasnt sure if it was still available. I'll check that out
