Yes
Hi everyone. After read may threads, the best ones insurance companis seem to be Photoguard and Glover&howe. I Think I'll go for G&C.

Offices are closed today, but generally and specifically (G&H) speaking, my doubt is, am I covered for a theft partially due to my distraction?
for example travelling, in a train, during I am sleeping ;or in a restaurant, cafè if I keep the gear bag close to me but in some way someone manages to steal it?

This is photoguard:
"Requirements when out and about
* Items must not be left unattended or
* Items must be kept in a secure locked room or cupboard with any security devices made operational.
Security requirements
"Unattended:whilst the equipment is not being held or used by you or a responsible adult, the items must be kept in a locked room or cupboard on in a locked luggage compartment. "

I'd imagine they'd have a good go at wriggling out of paying any claim like that, but then any insurance company would...

TBH mate, I'd get in contact with your houshold insurers. My gear is listed with my insurers and they haven't put unreasonable restrictions on me i.e. I don't have to have the camera in one hand and an AK47 in the other for the policy to be enactable.

Check out Aaduki

Watch out for some of their exclusions re motor vehicles and curfews. However these are not written in stone and I have several exceptions on my policy, with regards boot covers and curfew times.

Also check out Towergate Baker. I spoke to their rep ar Focus and they do seem to have some good policies.

You may be covered on your household insurance but only if you use the equipment in a amateur capacity. Once you use it professionally, you are not covered.

Not necessarily. Insurers who insure professional photographers should appreciate that it's not possible to keep your eyes on all of your gear all of the time. The policy should reflect that. (And if it does, so will the premiums!)

Good point, even if probably that is not the case of amateur policies, unfortunately

I called G&C for other reasons and asked them, they said that I would be covered anyway if something like what I said in the post n.1 would happen:eek:

Anyway, they say I should insure my gear with the sum I would need to buy it new. I didn't know that!
