Insurance question.

I'm trying to get the insurance for my 1D mark 4 and old 300mm f/2.8L with Photoguard. When it asked me online for the value of the stuff I'd like to insure,I've put £2500 and £1200 as these are the usual second hand prices for the 1D4 and 300mm mk1. I couldn't finish the application and they called me back the next day. The guy said I should put the current prices of brand new equipment instead of second hand, as they will replace my gear with new items in case of claim. My problems are:
I cannot find the prices of brand new 1D4 and in terms of 300mm f/2.8, they said I should put the price of new 300mm f/2.8 IS mk2 as they will replace my old one with mk2. Is this true? It seems too good to be true to me. Has anyone had similar experience while insuring their gear? Please advise.

My insurance changed last year from declared value to replacement cost so perhaps this is the way they are moving. As for being "too good to be true"....the premiums will be calculated accordingly (mine were :gag:)

Cheers Bob. I'm sure the premium will be huge, but let's say something will happen (touch wood) to my old 300mm mk1 made in 1990 or something and they will replace it with new 300mm f/2.8 IS mk2? That's what I understood from the conversation.

That scenario was played out for a member of this forum a couple of months back....300/2.8 non-IS hit the concrete and a 300/2.8 IS L Mkii arrived.
