Yes sorry, meant car.
Some insurers that have been mentioned on this forum, will only cover the items if they are stolen from your possession, i.e. you are mugged (and then they reduce the cover for mugging as well in one of them). If they are in a car, then they needed to be locked in the boot out of sight, with the main cabin locked, and there had to be no access to the boot /at all/ from the main cabin of the car.
That discounts an awful lot of cars.
We have a couple of cars. One is a rover 400, semi-hatchback. That is discounted because the parcel shelf could be lifted out from the main cabin, and the seats fold down.
Another car, has a 'ski hatch' in the middle of the back seat, meaning that you could get into the boot from the main cabin. This car has a mechanical release to the boot from the driver, so would also be discounted.
The third car, might just squeak through, so long as I could argue that the immobilizer fitted as standard, also disabled the electric release to the boot (which it does).
Basically, if you intend on going shopping and leave the camera in the car rather than take it around the shops (which I do with the supermarket), then you would need to be very careful that the items are covered. Insurers don't like giving their (hmm, your) money back.
