Yes
I have an Asus P8Z68 motherboard with intel i5 CPU and corsair vengeance memory modules.

I have been googling endlessly and I'm struggling to find a good heatsink for the CPU, is anyone in here using the same specs? What heatsink do you use (my maximum budget is 60 squid).

Please help.

cheers

edit:
forgot to mention I'm using Coolermaster Storm case.

thanks guys, willhave a look at those

Prolimatech Megahalems will do a very good job, and it'll clear your memory heatsinks too,
they usually go for between 50-60 quid brand new on most Uk computer sites :)

Thanks, but I just got a Zalman CNPS9900 NT from PCworld this morning and its now running on my PC. Will post pics when I get a chance tomorrow.

I had one of those on my i5 build. Worked well. In fact I think I still have it in the box somewhere Cos i changed to a scythe when I upgraded to the i7 sandybridge.

Looks cool when all lit up!

Always been curious as to how they looked in the flesh running! Sort of wish the lighting colour was customisable though in a strange way!

Hi all, thanks for all your input.
Here are a couple of pics:

I know it's not high end, but it should last a few years till the next build.

The pic below shows the cooler in a different orientation, and it still does not interfere with the tall memory module.

While playing CS, this picture appeared, so I immediately took a pic of it...

Here is my 6-year old Ferrari running AMD Athlon64, it still runs quick for internet surfing, but runs slow now for photo editing.

Nice and tidy - well done. But pic 4 shows the Intel heatsink ;)

Is the Zalman quieter?

Good. Have your max temps changed too?

yes about -10 to -13 celcius (I don't know my ambient temp though)

on the stock heatsink I get 70 celcius, with the zalman, it's 57-60 celcius running P95 with "in-place large FFTs", not "Blend" so I guess with Blend, it will be lower...

Edit, I've actually ordered a CM Hyper 212+ because the front heatsink of the Zalman is always hotter than the back, and the Zalman looks like it's vibrating even though I'm sure everything's fitted tighly. I'm not really comfortable with just the thumb screws at the back of the motherboard.

just to nupdate the thread, I have changed the CPU cooler to a hyper 212 plus.

I'm into overclocking now.... trying to go up to 4.4Ghz only and still trying to find the best voltage values...

here's a new pic:

More like a pig to not foul the memory in the first place :'(

Nice cabling by the way!

HI all, sorry for the late reply, just been very busy.

Happy new year to all!

Thank s for the nice comments

@RobertP - The case is a Thermaltake Chaser MK1

The RAM is hidden under the right fan heatsink
It is now running at 4.6Ghz
