Thanks lost

will pick up a copy for sure

just about to make my purchase , there seems to be plenty 7d owners about now that love it , also considering the D300s as I had the D90 before and liked it , decisions decisions eh :-)

Prices seem to be droping daily now on the 7d, not sure if its bottomed out yet or wait till after xmas ?

TT

I've just moved from the D300 to the 7D. I think the 7D has better liveview than the D300 and also the 18mp will come in handy when I'm doing macro pic's and can crop in closer without losing detail.

Read the AP article tonight while waiting for the train... not a huge amount of difference between the two in all honesty..but the 18mp is the plus!

I haven't read the full article yet but I did have a quick look at the conclusion. I've owned both the D300 and the 7D and in my limited experience I've found the 7D just (and I do mean just) pips the D300.

As the D300s is pretty much the same camera...

For me the D300 feels a lot better in the hand, it's got a great build quality and you can literally feel it. Whilst I would never have tested it out I reckon it could take a serious fall and keep on ticking.

The dual card slot will also be of great use to some people.

But the real winning feature is the auto-focus.

With the 7D the first thing I noticed was the layout of the controls, I find it really simple to use. Add to that the blistering frame rate and the 100% viewfinder and you have a winner.

However the build quality (whilst excellent) isn't the same as the D300. One niggle in particular is the eye cup and the CF card door.

When I was picking a new camera system a few weeks back I went with the 7D, what really pushed me was Canon lenses after all that's where you will have to spend your money well.

The cf card door always seems to be an issue with Canon but then none of mine have ever dropped off!!
