I visited a link posted, in the 7d Owners thread, by Nigel (ngpd) about setting up a 7d.
It was quite useful, so I checked his other pages, his Top Tip page has some very useful info;

What I hadn't considered is that the histogram is produced from a jpeg & therefore if you don't have the correct WB applied, you may be clipping highlights, or have more headroom, without realising it.
