Interfit INT326 XS Bracket with 430EXii and iShoot PT-04

Hi,

I'm new to the forum, but have been lurking for a while!

Having unsuccessfully searched the web for an answer to my problem, I am now hoping someone on here may be able to offer some advice.

I have the following equipment:

5D Mkii
430EX ii
iShoot PT-04 Radio trigger
Konig light stand

I have been looking at purchasing the Interfit INT326 XS Bracket to use with umbrellas, beauty dishes etc.

The problem I am facing is this -

I will be able to mount the Speedlite to the bracket with no problems, however this leaves me with no wireless trigger. The iShoot PT-04 mounts to the bottom of the Speedlite and has a thread on the bottom to use with a stand:

The Interfit bracket attaches to the Speedlite via a coldshoe mount as shown here:

So...the only way I can see to mount the Speedlite would be to purchase and adaptor which mounts to the bracket, enabling the PT-04 to mount to the adaptor and the Speedlite to mount to the PT-04:

SPEEDLITE || PT-04 || ADAPTOR || BRACKET

(It's late and that all sounds confusing to me so I thought the above might help to explain what I mean!)


Now that would be fine, however...this would mean that the Speedlite sits too far forward in the bracket resulting in an ineffective use of a beauty dish (partial guesswork there).

The other option I thought would be to unscrew the coldshoe mount on the bracket and hope that it screws straight into the PT-04. But...by the looks of the above photograph of the bracket, the thread sizes are going to be different.

So what are my options? Having searched the web for a good couple of hours I haven't found a solution. Even if I purchase a new wireless trigger set with a cold shoe mount rather than a threaded screw, I would still be facing the problem of the Speedlite sticking too far through the bracket. :bang:

Ideally I need a Bowens set up with everything included, but working as an assistant doesn't pay well enough unfortunately! So, any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for your reply. I think you may be right.

I went ahead and ordered it all this morning. I bought an adaptor (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Camera-Adap...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1295266186&sr=8-1) as well, as it is cheap and if I am able to screw the bracket directly into the PT-04 then I haven't lost a lot.

My only concern is that it will still sit too far through the bracket, but if this is the case I will look into alternative options. :thumbs:

I'm in exactly the same situation as you. Just received my iShoot PT-04 and the Interfit INT326 XS bracket. Was hoping that I could just unscrew the coldshoe mount and screw straight into the PT-04 but the thread sizes are different. Did you manage to get it working with the adaptor you bought from Amazon? Is the speedlight sticking too far out into the bracket?

Thanks and hope to find a way to make the combination work.

Hi,

Yup had the same issue, the thread sizes are different so it doesn't screw directly into the PT-04. The adaptor means that it is possible to use the shoe mount on the INT326. This has been fine with an umbrella, but the speedlite does stick out quite a way so using a reflector or beauty dish may be an issue (I haven't had a chance to try this out yet.) I think a diffuser may help. I'll keep you updated.

The adaptor only adds around 5mm, the reason it sticks out so far (as I'm sure you've found) is due to the PT-04.

I'm tempted to trade in the 430ex ii for the 580ex ii, as this will solve the issue of mounting the PT-04 on the flash and instead using a cable. I'm also not sure I got a great version of the PT-04, it is very temperamental, and I've (accidentally) found out that if I flick the battery cover the flash fires!
