Looking for advice, I am building an online store selling home decor and interior styling and need to up my photography game..

I currently have a Canon 500d with standard kit lens and a zoom but I would like to upgrade these

I am looking at the 6D Mark ii Camera and need a good lens or two to be able to capture both photos of both an item or two close up and products in a setting. Not really whole rooms but a corner of the room with a console for example and lamps etc.

I am looking at Sigma Art 35/50mm lens as this has been recommended by a friend. Not sure if this would be suitable for a clean crisp interior shot as well as just one or two product shots?

Or would a Canon 50mm 1.8mm be suitable as a starting lens for this type of work and go from there?

Any advice /help would be really appreciated. Will try and attach some example photos to demonstrate the style of shots I want to take

Your existing kit is probably good enough. You would probably be better spending the money on lighting, a decent tripod and the ability to shoot tethered to a computer.

All of the shots you have included could be taken with the standard kit lens.

I upgraded from a Canon 500D to 6D a while ago, and I couldnt be happier with the choice as it felt like a major upgrade.
Although on the kits i would probably consider a 50 + a wide lens like 16-35 or 12-24 in cases where you have limited space. I do have the 35 and i love it, but sometimes I wish to "zoom" out more and i find myself not having enough space to get a wider shot.

I agree - a wider zoom lens will be more suitable than a 50mm fixed prime 12-24mm is ideal for the situations you describe and as suggested by @ah5168 LIGHTING

I was using my 77d with a sigma 18-50 f2.8 lens, was happy with the pics.

I was at an event and borrowed a 16-35 f2.8 ii and it blew me away, the pic quality went through the roof.

Eventually i bought a 24-70 f2.8 ii and have to say the quality is amazing.

If you buy the 6d ii you will have to change the lens as it is full frame. If it were me I would change the lens first, you may be happy with the pics, then change to the 6d if you want to.

24-70 will do what you want i think, you don't need anything too wide for the example shots you have shown.

And this again - lighting is the key.
