Intermittent Card Faults - Canon 500D

I'm hoping some of you can help before I go back to the shop!

As in the title I have a 500D and numerous SD Cards, 3x Scandisk 8Gb 15mb/s, 1x PNY 8Gb and 1x boggo basic Scandisk 4GB, all bought (with the exception of the PNY) from reputable shops so definately not fakes.

Yesterday while trying to have a look at the photo's I'ld taken in the morning the camera did not want to accept that there was a Scandisk 8Gb card in the camera, I tried removed the batteries, removing the grip, re-seating a lens but it didn't want to know. They worked once last night in the camera and work fine in the laptop so looking more like a problem with the camera itself.

Has anyone come accross this before and does anyone have a fix, I don't want to get caught out next time I go for a shoot to find that my camera will not accept the memory cards I have on me.
 
Guess no ones had this problem then...

Seems to be the card slot itself which is a b****r, taking it to Jessops on Tuesday so fingers crossed!
 
i had a 500d for almost a year. never had a problem like this... i think you've done everything you can really to pin down the problem - it's almost certainly the camera.

hope they get the fault fixed quickly for you - not the time of year to be without a camera!
 
So do I, can't imagine being without a camera for a couple of weeks if they o need to send it away, I'm dredding going in tbh...
