Hi all!

I'm John, a new and very excited member to the group. I am a real novice to the art of photography but it has been something simmering in the back of my mind for some time now and definitely something I would like to fine-tune. I have a few professional photographers who are friends of mine so together hopefully I can go to the next step!!

The long shot:

A friend of mine really wants to find an analogue fot-o-mat machine (by that I mean the machines that snap your passport pictures that were in every supermarket and communal space back in the 80's/90's; the ones that flash and produce 4 different pictures on a strip of film). I thought I'd mention it to you since I guess you guys are experts in where to turn! I feel it is my duty to ask since I bought a book for him all about fot-o-mat photos over the years and now he wants to see one in action.

Thank you

Hi John, well your freind is going to find that a bit hard to hump about, I would go with a padded shoulder strap ;) I think your best bet would be to find out a name of manufacturer or leasing company from the early days of those machines and try to trace the company, and see if they are still trading.

Welcome to TP, John.

The dominate supplier of photo booths in the UK is Photo-Me International. I think what "your friend" is after is what Photo-Me call their "Classic Studio" which, according to the web site, seems to be still available to rent. You might be able to get a list of places where these booths are located by contacting the company.

Hi and thanks for your help. Lol Stewart I am indeed interested in the history of the machines but I think this project is going to require deeper pockets than I have!

Any more info is welcome and thanks a bunch :-)
