iPad Apps - What do you recommend?

Got myself a nice new sealed boxed iPad at a great price but now need a crash course in the most effective use of it. In laptop terms I use MS Office, particularly Word and Powerpoint, educational videos and various other documents like .pdf for instruction manuals etc.

So far I've downloaded:-

  • Pages as the word processor/Word clone/.pdf reader
  • iSilo (on recommendation - unsure exactly why but colleague will be telling me!)
  • Keynote for Powerpoint clone

I've also got Handbrake which transfers video files to MP4.

What else would you iPad users recommend I look at and why?

I'm waiting to see what gets developed from CS5.5 and the SDK; it's targeted at tablets and the iPad.
 
I use a few 'feeder' apps, like Engadget, to keep up to date with tech news.

Plaintext is a very good alternative to the default note app. Eyewitness for photos. iPlayer app is very good too.
 
Air Video - plays movies from your desktop to your iPad over your wifi plus allows on the fly conversion of avi files to iPad format :)

its only features that bring coding in flash more up to scratch with the api's though. there is nothing in the cs5.5 update that cant already be done in objective c using xcode
 
My favourites are:

1. Garage Sale HD for those times that the TP Classified just don't do it.
2. Mindo. I am a Mindmap freak that never sees the solution until I have worked it through.
3. Instaviz. Sketching, Mindmapping, flowchart goodness. Does it differently to Mindo and both worth having.
4. Project Planner HD. If you need to knock up a quick and dirty Gantt chart this will do it but don't expect too much depth.
5. iBooks and Kindle both have a slot. Before buying a book check the prices in both stores and often one is far cheaper than the other. Don't disregard iBooks as it now manages pdf files and is handy for your camera/tv/etc manual.

I have to admit to being a sad bunny that enjoys working in front of the TV in the evening. It doesn't feel as ordered as a laptop and my wife does not object quite so much (and easier than staying up to do stuff until the early hours).
Keynote (especially), Pages and Numbers are great.

Some interesting suggestions - nobody mentioned the TP app, which is brilliant!
 
The Times newspaper. Stunning to have full colour photos bring your newspaper alive. Realise not everyone would want the the Times editorially but it applies to most newspapers.
