Well I never thought I would post this :p

I’ve just got hold of an iPad for testing some application access for our sales team. Obviously, aside from testing the work stuff, it would be nice if I could make this work on a personal level. So, I’d appreciate a little help with some really n00b questions.

1. Is there an app I can use to bypass iTunes?
2. Related to the above – I want to play avi files
3. If you are working with Contacts, is there an easy way to delete or do multiple selections?

Any help appreciated.

1. No, not unless you jailbreak it.
2. You can download VLC player which should do the trick
3. Not sure, but don't think so

Thanks for the quick response. I knew about VLC but my issue was getting avi files onto the iPad - iTunes seems to iHate them. Is there an easy way?

On the iphone, there is an option in iTunes to enable as hard disk drive. If you can do this with iPad then you can drag them on. Or depending on the size you could email them to iPad. Or convert the avi to mp4 and iTunes will like it.

Go into the applications tab in itunes and then select VLC in the menu at the bottom. There is then an option to import files. Voila!

Excellent - I'll take a look.

There is a program called sharepod that allows you to drag n drop on Ipod touches and Iphones. Not sure if it works on teh Ipad though?

Thanks - I'll take a look.
