iPad iOS 4.2 and the camera connection kit

iPad users with the camera connection kit who haven't yet upgraded to iOS 4.2 may wish to delay doing so. Users who have upgraded may want to check to see if their cameras or card readers still work. It seems that the 'upgrade' reduces the power supplied from 100mA to just 20mA. My Lexar reader now doesn't work. I shall be phoning Apple to demand a refund for the connection kit being as it is not fit for purpose.

My 40d works fine. You may also have trouble getting anything out of apple, they never stated the camera connection kit was to be used with a card reader, just with either connecting the camera via USB or inserting the SD card into their adaptor.
