iPad Printing

Does anyone know of a way to print from the iPad? I've seen a couple of apps that do it but would appreciate any feedback from people who have used one.

Never printed from an iPad, but the latest OS upgrade boasts about 'Air printing' - the ability to print images directly to a printer without going through a PC or Mac.

You'd need to read the spec though... !

No jailbreak yet, so I'm holding off.

Easiest and cheapest way to print is to just email the document or image to yourself (I use a GMail address for easy access) and then anytime I'm close to a printer connected computer I can then print them off.

Sounds a bit of a palava.

I take it there's nothing built in for printing like there is on my PC or Netbook ?

I was thinking maybe I'd look at an Ipad in the new year, think I'll stick to my netbook.

There is a print facility in the new iOS 4.2, but as a lot of users like the flexibility of keeping the jailbreak most won't be upgrading until the JB is finalised.

Not being able to directly print isn't really a deal breaker (but then I have also kept my netbook for more complicated data input/editing/printing), I don't really see the iPad as a laptop or netbook replacement, its a complementary tool.

Just bought a macbook pro with the bundle offer wireless printer. Using the updated airprint facility it will print direct, but there are also a couple of HP apps available if you a) can't wait to upgrade or b) want to stay downgraded for your jailbreak

Printing from the iPad to ANY printer is possible under the latest IOS - as long as you install Printopia on a mac that is connected to printers and is on the same wifi network.

I have upgraded mine to the latest software Really worth the effort & yes it does print to a printer.
