iPhone 4S - SIM Failure

Hope someone can help me please, I'm getting SIM Failure sometimes on my
4S is this because 3G cannot be found or something more worrying
If I turn it off and then on again it seems to be OK

Don't think it has anything to do with 3G, is the sim card secure?

hi Ben - as far as I am aware it is, no previous problems until about a week ago

Apple are usually very good so if the problem carries on I would book yourself in at the genius bar at your local Apple shop. They will be able to solve the problem, or if not I'm sure they'll replace the phone there and then

Take it to the Apple Store, they will swap it out for a new one.

There and then.

Could be a faulty sim. Contact your network, and ask them to send you out a new sim. Just make sure you dont store your contacts on the sim card, or you may lose them. Take a backup through itunes first too.

As has been said, take it to an Apple store and they'll sort it out there and then. I wouldn't bother faffing around contacting your network.

The Apple store is probably your best bet given the internet reporting of this being quite a widespread problem with the 4S.

Thanks Guys, didn't know this was a widespread problem Alistair, any links to the info. please.
I have just spoke to Apple via Orange and they have suggested a reset.....home button + on/off button held down for 10 seconds, I will see if that sorts the problem out. If not then its a Trafford Centre visit to Apple.

Probably worth isolating the problem by trying a free payg sim in the phone to see if it's sim related or hardware related.

I seem to remember a girl at work had a sim issue with her new 4s, got a new sim and fixes the provlem

Update for anyone else having similar problem - did a compete factory reset as suggested by Apple. SIM card oorked OK in a Nokia so going to see a Guru at Apple store and hopefully get it exchanged
