iPhone for geotagging?

Does anyone here use their iPhone to geotag their slr photos? If so what apps/ programs/methods do you use?

I've been doing it casually to geotag some of my film stuff - Just take a reference photo with the iPhone and use the co-ordinates in that.

I've considered PhotoJot, but development seems to have stagnated for over a year, which has rather put me off (especially as I'm using an iPhone 4).

There are plenty of other GPS/geolocation apps for runners and the like if you just want to record the raw data.

Import the iPhone image into Lightroom and Jeffery Friedl's GPS plugin for Lightroom then allows you to copy the geolocation co-ordinates to your other photos.

Try MotionX GPS. I am using the lite version which is free. You can set it to start logging and track you. Then, when finish, you can stop the track and email it from your phone. It sends 2 files which are then used by whatever program you use to tag.

The lite version is free so test away

That's what I use on the occasions I remember to use it.
Battery life can be extended by turning off all of the other stuff you'll not be using while out, like WiFi, 3G etc...

The tracklogs import into Aperture without any issues, dead simple. Just make sure you sync the date & time on your phone and camera before you set off.

Thanks everyone. I will have a look at the options, although it sounds like a dedicated GPS may be better and if I get a full model me and the family couid give geocacheing a go too.

I'm considering using gps4cam. Anyone else use it? Any good? What's best?

Thanks for that - interesting bit of kit but I think I'll stick with a no-wires, low-cost iphone app.

I use an external AMOD GPS logger, doesn't sap the battery from my iPhone, just hangs off my camera bag on a karabiner. I use HoudahGeo to geotag them, works a treat.

GPX Master is the one you want. free, configurable and easy to use, also links with Dropbox to upload your log for easy import later.

used it in Paris, but kept forgetting to use it when not doing tourism.
