My brother has an iPhone 3G (not on contract, or under any form of warranty) and needs to add an insurance policy for it, as it is occasionally a bit "off". Does anyone know the best options? Probably be after a pay monthly policy including accidental, technical etc but not theft. Can't use the network, as it wasn't bought from them originally.

Many Thanks

Best option is to put it on the household contents insurance.

Phone insurance is expensive and very hard to claim on due to various exclusions in the policy.

Adding to the contents insurance should only put premiums up by a few pounds per year.

What about through your bank account, that's how the wife and I have ours done.

Yeah pop it on your house insurance.

I insured mine with O2 mainly because of the contract! i.e. I was roped into 18 months @ £35. If a whippersnapper stole my phone that night, I would still have been contracted to pay £630 to O2.

Incidentally, I did smash my iphone by dropping it from 2 ft onto lino, and got a straight replacement instantly.

Through the bank :)

Claimed on mine as I dropped it, £30 excess and had it back special delivery within 3 days of posting

Thanks for the replies. hmm ok well that's a bit of a gray area, household insurance. I have asked my parents about this obviously, but they don't have very good contents insurance or are unsure abou it, for example coverplan for the Macs, separate insurance for camera etc. That's unfortunately why it has to be another policy. :/

Edit: Will look into it through the bank, am going through the process of changing to Barclays which offers insurance on phones anyway. Thanks!

Thanks

Yes alistair, I know what you mean, and we're not doing that. It's faulty as such, just needed to restart?reset? it a couple weeks ago, which made us realise that its not covered in the event of something serious going wrong that can't be solved with a restart.
