On an iphone 3g, if I turn OFF data roaming AND cellular data, I should not be able to access the internet, other than using wifi? Correct?

Had an issue with o2 about my wife not being on iphone tariff and running up data costs (which they have refunded as they gave her wrong information). So this way she can use her tariff (£5 a month) for calls and texts, have the benefits of the iphone like music and pics, but only use internet on wifi and not get data costs?

Don't have an iphone, but why not turn off wifi, see if the browser works. If it doesn't, data defo doesn't work.

Simon, I believe what your saying is true, even if data was enabled, the wifi takes priority so there should be no charge.

Simon - correct

Go into Settings > General > Network & turn off data roaming, delete the APN settings from Cellular Data Network and you should be good..

Data Roaming only covers data when in foreign countries so turning this 'off' will only stop you using data when abroad and 'roaming' on other networks.

Cheers. Wife was stung for £72 for data this month, but when they listened to recordings of calls a month ago, realise she was told wrong info, so cancelled charge.

That's nothing - we got charged nearly £500 for using data we were told we had when they hadn't added it! :/ Didn't pay it though, they finally realised there error.
