IQ difference between Canon 18-200 & 15-85

I still haven't decided on a new lens yet. Can anyone tell me just how much difference I can expect in IQ between the 2 lenses. I shoot landscape for fun & products for work. I find the kit lens just a bit soft and really looking for something sharp.

Well to start with the longer the zoom range the more it has to do, so this will not give as good IQ as a shorter one.
have you not thought of the 17-55mm IS 2.8 this is a great lens I use it as my short lens all the time over the 17-85 which is longer but not as good.

Haven't really considered the 17-55 just because of the loss of length, however constant 2.8 is very tempting. I'll definitely have a look, thks.

15-85 will blitz the 28-200 on IQ.

17-55 2.8 is better still.

Been looking at the reviews and it looks like the 17-55 2.8 is the one to have. How come every time I come to making a decision the lens of choice is so much more expensive. Maybe next month, but PC is needing replaced, so maybe the month after that....
