Guys,

I have an old film camera which fits my current Canon lens and was keen to try some IR photography.
Is it possible to still buy IR film and get it processed!?

I am gonna ask a really stupid question now too...
I have seen Colour and B&W IR images...
I'm guessing IR film is IR film? or are there different types.

IR Sensitive Film - Ilford SFX

What canon film body are you thinking of using - some of the EOS bodies (eg eos 3) use IR light to sense the film frames for winding/rewinding. This IR emitter/sensor pretty much stuffs IR film.

Ilford and Rollei sell IR film. Both are black and white.

Kodak used to/still do (not sure) make an IR slide film.

Think I have an old EOS 5 ? may be? will have to get it out the loft!

This website: http://photonotes.org/articles/eos-ir/ has a comprehensive list of cameras and IR compatibility.

and can I get it processed and scanned anywhere?

As it's a black and white film, you can't just take it to any mini lab. Jessops will probably send it out for processing but my recommendation would be Ilford's in house process and print service: http://www.ilfordlab.com/page/57/Black-and-White-Prints-from-Film.htm
