Is £289.99 for Tamron 17-50 (Sony Fit) a good price?

I have two questions mainly, is £289.99 for a Tamron 17-50 Sony fit a good price for this lens?

The second question is that I am wanting to upgrade my Sony 18-70mm lens for my A700 and would this be a good replacement as an allround lens?

Price is about right, you could find it cheaper but it would be a grey import which obviously isnt advisable.

That lens is also absolutely freakin amazing, regrettably ive just got rid of mine as ive switched to canon but trust me when i say this, its the bomb diggity :)

sorry to sound bit inpatient, its just this price ends tonight and I wanted some quick advice :)

Cheers, I'm even more tempted to get it now, I cant find it anymore cheaper apart from the grey imports you mentioned.

Are there any other variations of the lens or is the XR DiII LD version the correct one?
 
I have just bought one (canon fit) from Amazon.co.uk for £275 but i think it came from France. It is 100% perfect but i don't know where i stand on warranty, I'll have to check that!
 
Ive heard youve gotta watch the VC versions on canon and nikon, luckily sony doesnt hasnt got that problem. Great lens though i loved it, if i wasnt getting L glass id get it again in a flash.
 
I am about to purchase this lens for my Pentax, best price I have found from a reputable UK dealer is £299 from SRS
 
Very good lens... won't find any second hand really cos it's sony, go buy it :) Onestop digital are pretty reliable, and include a warranty, and they cover customs fees...

I think you'll find that lenses tend to carry global guarantees so no problem there. I have bought several lenses from onestop digital and found them to be nothing but "SUPERB" on the one occasion that I was billed import duty I scanned the invoice and emailed onestop and was reimbursed within 12 hours. I cannot recommend them too highly.
 
I got this lens from WE and it came with a free filter for £299.
