Is 3kg load enough for monopod?

Planning to buy a monopod so i don't have to carry my tripod with me on certain stuff etc.

I use a D7000 + Grip and the lens that i most likely will need the monopod is the sigma 70-200 f2.8 HSM mkII.

Was checking out some Giottos monopod and this comes up for cheap.

was wondering is 3kg enough? attracted me because it got the quick release and handle thing which is very useful.

If the monopod is bad i guess i have to go for something like

to give me the 12kg load?

Some advice is always welcome.
 
None of your kit is exactly heavy, do you really need a monopod for it? I only use my monopod (Manfrotto 680B) when I put the 300 f/2.8 on the D700/MB-D10 grip combo and even then the it can still be handheld easily enough if required.....
 
i know is not too heavy my kit, but i mainly use it for stabilize when using the 70-200mm. My hand is not steady sometimes when hand held the camera and lens for video stuff.

If 3kg is enough i probably go for the giottos mv818.

I'd imagine the Giottos will the job, personally though I'd pay a bit more and get something decent. I can recommend the 680B and some of the cheaper Manfrotto 'pods will be also more than capable of carrying your kit.
 
you right about the Manfrotto pods. The manfrotto 394 is pretty decent, i can get the manfrotto head from work for free since they tossing them away for some reasons ......

If it's the 234 monopod head I can understand why, mine just lies in a box somewhere :shake:
 
yeah the head is the 234RC. They tossing them like no tomorrow because they can't mount any of them lol. Save myself a few pound is nice :)
