Is it a keeper (B&W child)?

Yes
Portra-160VC film, 85mm f/1.8 lens, and a terrible quality result.

My local Boots has just had a new processing machine, the whole roll is this grainy so I don't think it's set up right yet :(

That aside, is it any good!? Should I have used a flash?

Just seeing a little red cross

Is this your child?
I like it the child looks natural and relaxed and the pose is lovely :)

Hi, piccy looks okay for me? It is my eldest, shot on a light-railway.

Nice one, did you get her to sign a model release form? LMAO

Pearce, personally, I feel the natural light works nicely, and mono finishes it off. Lovely pose as well. Its a shame the shot came out a little grainy but it's not spoiled it.

shameless bump - anyone care to comment on the flash idea?

Looks like you didn't need it to me, you seem to have good levels on the face (y)

I personally avoid flash as much as possible for portraits as it tends to really flatten the skin tone. You've got great tone here and I actually quite like the grain.
