I noticed on another forum that Nikon Canada have dropped the prices in the past few days. On larger lenses etc it can be a decent drop( a few hundered UK pounds ). Is it likely that we will see a decent price reduction happening with Nikon equipment or has it already happend and i havent noticed.

I did notice that certain longer lenses have dropped price on ebay in the past few day by around £20 or so but not a great deal.

I think it's to do with the value of the Canadian Dollar that has caused this. The pound is still weak so I don't think we'll be seeing the same thing here. This is Rip-Off Britain after all :(

There has been little change in the Canadian dollar versus the Yen over the past two months so why would this be a factor?

On your "Rip off Britain" remark.....prices for Canon gear here in France are generally higher than UK prices at the current exchange rates and that follows across most Euro-zone countries for obvious reasons.

Thanks Bob. Now that you've belittled me why not answer the OP's original question? I'm sure he'd be grateful.

I just can't see this happening, and it seems like wishful thinking at best, nothing to do with rip off britian or anything else, if you deflate your prices you kill your current sales (everybody waits for your prices to drop, annoy your resellers cause they're holding stock worth less then they paid for it and annoy customers cause you've killed the scond hand market. They won't drop, but may reduce against inflation, thats all

Quite a substantial difference since January... click me. An extra 15% on top of January's rates... and it has been higher over the summer!

When did the prices last go up?

I'm sorry if my reply offended you, it wasn't intentional. I simply looked at the $C v Yen over the past 60 days and saw little change. The other remark was highlighting that European prices are no better than UK ones.

It seems that my forum etiquette has dropped below the standards deemed acceptaable nowadays so I'll take this opportunity to apologise to anyone else I've unwittingly upset recently.
