to answer the question you meant to ask - no
a) you will need a whole bunch of registry settings (on each machine)
b) you will need to install all sorts of dlls and other "stuff" (technical term!)
c) USB drives are not that fast so it will probably load like a dog
d) don't get me started on licensing (which is why all of the above btw!)
could you keep the executable on a USB drive and "run" it from there?
yes - on one PC, but hardly worth the effort

Not sure exactly what you are asking. You can have LR installed separately on different laptops (with individual licences of course!) and have the LR catalog on a USB drive along with the images. Then open the catalog off the drive in LR on any of the laptops to work with the images. As already said though USB drives are not the fastest for access.
