Not sure if this is the right section to put this, but if not, one of the highly paid Mods, will no dout move it :D.

Right where was I, oh yes. Well after setting the 400d to take Ljpeg + raw, and with the help of Matt Sayle, finding that a 1 GiG card will give me about 49 shots, is it worth it.

As I have CS3 Extended, and while playing about with it,just now. I have noticed that it has a bit under file, that allows me to open a picture (any picture even a Jpeg) in camera raw. And it seems to give me the same ajustments as if it was a raw file.

So should I shoot in Ljpeg + Raw, or just shoot in jpeg ie 49 shots in Ljpeg + raw or 169 shots in just Ljpeg.

Hope you can follow the above as I am now lost :suspect::suspect::suspect:
 
I have decided NEVER to shoot in anything other than RAW.

The post processing options are just too tempting!

SD cards are coming down in price all the time.
 
Another vote for RAW only unless you're stuck with only one card in the field and desperately need to fit more images on or you really need that huge burst of jpegs!
 
I agree - RAW is the way forward, but does (obviously) require some extra card space, and time after shooting....

There was someone here a while back trying to buy the smallest card he could so he would only get a few shots on them, to make him think about the shot more, and get everything (including composition) right in the camera, maybe use the 49 RAW shots as something like this? (Depends on what you're shooting of course)

Unless you need to deliver Jpgs on-the-day. There is no point in shooting RAW *and* Jpg at the same time. Greatly reduces disk space and takes longer to process in camera. Worst of both worlds.

Well it wasn't my idea originally - I don't have the eye or the talent. I'm a 5FPS until one card is full, then whack in another.....

Then hope for 1 good shot when I get in :lol::lol:
