Yes
as above really , i am pondering this as i can i reckon do it for virtually nothing financially , just wondering if it is going to worth it photographically :)

I'm thinking of going from 400d to 450d as there are a few things on the 450 that i really want. You need to get the spec sheets side by side and see if there is enough to make the change.

If you can do it for not much but depending on how you're getting it for virtually nothing it would be even better to go for a 40d. :)

If you can still get a 40d as it's discontinued so don't take too long deciding! I found the 40D too heavy and much prefer the smaller lighter 400D / 450D so if you fancy a 40D then try one out 1st.

It would be a 450D as my dad has one he is struggling to use , so if he will accept my offer and i sell my 1000D then it should be a relatively cheap upgrade path , but is it going to be worth it though :)

The main differences are outlined here,

If its not going to cost you anything then I don't see why not to :)

Then the 450D all day long!

I was choosing between the 2 for my first SLR camera ,
when I went into jessops he said the only real difference is the mp? So i went for the 1000D as it was cheaper... is he wrong? should I take it back and go for the 450D instead?

Its ok I read the bottom bit how 1000D is much better for beginners :)

I second this. I went to Jessops and was looking at the 1000D and 450D, He said for the price diffrence your best going for a 1000D as there isnt much at all in it.
