Is it worth reading?

It put me off from the first page I opened it to: "The photographer at this wedding really captured the passion of the kiss as the bride's sister looks on longingly with a jealous gaze", or something like that next to a photo of the most hideous people I've ever seen, and I live practically on the edge of the Fens so that's quite a claim.

Really don't like that sort of airy gushing, so it went back onto the library shelf. However, having got over the shock of it, been wondering if I should return and give it more of a fair shot (so, skip that page) or does the whole book continue in this vein?
